Sources: USMNT’s Weah rejects Notttingam Forest deal

Nottingham Forest have ended their interest in Juventus winger Timothy Weah after the United States international rejected the club’s contract proposal, sources have told ESPN.

Forest and Juventus had agreed a deal of around €22 million ($25.7m) for Weah and winger Samuel Mbangula, sources told ESPN, but Weah has opted instead to wait for other opportunities away from Turin.

Sources have told ESPN that Juventus are keen to offload Weah and make space for new signings. The 25-year-old has three years left on his contract. Juventus signed Weah in a deal worth up to €12.4m from Lille in July 2023.

Weah began his career at Paris Saint-Germain and has had spells at Celtic, Lille and now Juventus, but he has not had the success of his fellow USMNT teammate Weston McKennie.

McKennie’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2025-26 season, and club and player are in renewal discussions.

Weah scored five goals in 30 games for in Serie A last season, many of which came from off the bench. All told he has had seven goals and six assists in 78 appearances with Juve since joining in 2023.

He also has seven goals in 44 games for the USMNT.
