5-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman says Jared Verse drove him into retirement

Former Miami Dolphins’ OT Terron Armstead didn’t hesitate when asked about three players that made him glad to retire this offseason. The former All-Pro left tackle has locked horns with the best defensive linemen in the business, yet one guy stood out last season: Los Angeles Rams’ EDGE Jared Verse.

Verse terrorized the NFL last season en route to being named Defensive Rookie of the Year, notching 4.5 sacks and finishing second in the NFL in pressures according to Sports Information Solutions. When he and Armstead locked horns in Miami’s Week 10 win over LA last season, Verse finished with one sack, and it was on a stunt when he was matched up against the left guard. However, Armstead noting Verse’s power and strength is a big feather in the cap for the second-year player.

An even bigger co-sign is saying that Verse is going to win Defensive Player of the Year one day, which doesn’t seem that far fetched. Verse was phenomenal last season, but there’s still room to grow. If he can finish pass rush reps off a little better, his 4.5 sacks could blast into the double digits. He’s taken the league by storm, and could be even better in 2025.
